An exhibition featuring historical documents from the Archives Department and a series of cultural events, seminars and competitions for students will mark the 82nd anniversary of the Temple Entry Proclamation in Kozhikode district.
Excise and Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan will open the three-day events at the Town Hall here on November 10. The exhibition of historical documents will be opened by Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran. The play Ijj Nalla Manushanakan Nokku written by E.K. Ayamu will be staged by Kozhikode Nataka Gramam on the opening day.
The following day, Kathaprasangam artiste Ayilam Unnikrishnan will stage his performance on the theme ‘Namukku Jathiyilla’ (We have no caste). The three-day events will draw to a close on Monday with a cultural event by Thiruvananthapuram-based Bharath Bhavan, highlighting the achievements of reformation movements in Kerala.
District panchayat president Babu Parassery and District Collector U.V. Jose said the district-level celebrations were planned on the basis of the State government’s directive. “From darkness to light will be the theme of the three-day celebrations,” they told reporters on Thursday.
