Mumbai: Railway staff helps drunk person, crowd mistakes act of kindness and goes on rampage at Sandhurst Road

On Friday evening, Sandhurst Road railway station witnessed chaos after few passengers mistook railway staff’s act of kindness and went berserk at the booking office. During this rampage, the crowd damaged windows and property of the booking office.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the incident took place when the railway staffers were trying to move a drunk person who passed out. The railway staffers were trying to move this person as he passed out near the ticketing window. But when the railway official was moving the drunk person, he started arguing, during which he suffered an injury on his head and started bleeding.

“A few passengers assumed that the staff was beating him up. The passengers got into an argument with the RPF personnel and the pointsman and then broke the window of the booking office and the flower pots placed outside the station master’s office,” a GRP official told the leading daily.

After the incident took place, the Dongri police rushed to the spot and nabbed the drunk person, after which the crowd dispersed. The Wadala GRP is now probing the matter, and the drunk person who was injured has been admitted to JJ Hospital.
