Ankiv Baisoya was elected DUSU president on September 13
With Thiruvalluvar University (TU) stating that it had still not received the fee needed to verify Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) president Ankiv Baisoya’s marksheet, the Head of the Department of Buddhist Studies is now considering personally visiting the university. However, Delhi University (DU) is still in the process of approving the request.
The Delhi High Court has told DU to complete the probe by November 12. This deadline is crucial since, according to the Lyngdoh Committee Recommendations, a re-election can only take place if the office of any major office-bearer falls vacant within two months of the election results being announced. The DUSU election results were announced on September 13 this year.
“I am trying to go by myself as Thiruvalluvar University is not responding to all other forms of communication. I am still in the process of completing some formalities. All this has to be done officially,” claimed K T S Sarao, HoD, Buddhist Studies.
However, sources said the university had not yet granted approval for the travel.
On Thursday, TU had told The Indian Express that it had not received the fee from DU required to provide a genuineness certificate, and that even after receiving the fee, the process usually takes 15 days.
Sarao, on the other hand, said it had not only paid the fee and sent receipts through registered post, but also sent emails regarding the same.
