Hundi collection crosses ₹1 crore

Revenue collection through hundials at Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here crossed ₹ one crore on Friday.

Counting of hundi collections began in the early hours of the day with a total of 272 officials, including Assistant Commissioner from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department M. Ramasamy, Temple Fit Person Karumuttu T. Kannan, Joint Commissioner N. Natarajan, volunteers of Ayappa Seva Sanagam, officials of the State Bank of India.

According to a press statement from the temple, the offerings, amounting to ₹1,03,59,573, included the collection from affiliated temples like Mariamman and Muktheeswarar temples in Teppakulam, Trivapudaiyar Temple in Sellur and the Tirumarainathar Temple in Tiruvathavur.

A total of 720 grams of gold, 4.390 kg of silver, 1.312 kg of gold and silver coins, 1.8 kg of brass and 359 foreign currency notes were part of the offerings.
