He created ruckus over an RO plant

The Reddiyarpalayam police have registered a case against former Minister P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram and two of his supporters for abusing and threatening M. Kandasamy, Commissioner of Oulgaret Municipality, on Wednesday.

A case has been registered under sections 294 (b) (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place) and 506 (i) (punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The police said Mr. Kalyanasundaram and two of his supporters verbally abused Mr. Kandasamy and threatened the official over allocation of right to run a reverse osmosis plants in Kalapet Assembly constituency.

Pact for water supply

Sources said Mr. Kalyanasundaram, along with a private trust, entered into an agreement with Oulgaret Municipality over supply of protected drinking water from five RO plants located on municipal lands. The agreement was not renewed and the work of running the RO plants was entrusted to the panchayats concerned.

Mr. Kalyanasundaram picked an argument with Mr. Kandasamy over this and verbally abused and threatened him. Based on a complaint by the official, the police have registered a case against him and two of his supporters.
