Town destroyed, thousands flee Calif. wildfires

After a night of rampant destruction... (nats) ...first light over southern California brought no relief.

Three fast-moving wildfires were burning out of control Friday morning... destroying homes and forcing thousands to evacuate.

(nats) It was a similar story further north where the so-called Camp Fire has decimated the town of Paradise.

The town's 27000 residents got out as fast as they could.

SOUNDBITE) RANDY BARTELL SAYING: "both of our driveways were fully engulfed in flames.

" (video of fire behind Pello) Jeff Pello loaded up as the fire approached… (SOUNDBITE) JEFF PELLO SAYING: "Got the Jeep and the boat and the mustang -classics over there" ...and he did whatever he could to save the rest.

I don't know if it will save it-but it might slow it down" (SOUNDBITE) FORREST WOODCOX: "Paradise high school was on fire, the gas station all around us were on fire," Officials say there could be multiple deaths.
