Solinas backs Castro, Billiat and company to start scoring

2018-11-09 12:14

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas believes his strike-force will soon start scoring plenty of goals despite a run of just four strikes in his side's last six matches.

During the 2018/19 season Leonardo Castro has only managed three goals in all competitions but has not hit the back of the net since the end of August. With that said, the Colombian has been struggling with injury and missed five matches in September and October.

Meanwhile, Khama Billiat is Amakhosi's leading goal-scorer at present with six strikes in 15 appearances in all competitions.

Chiefs are set to face Chippa United in their next Premiership match on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

"I am happy when also other players score, but I have no concern over the strikers because what's very important is that they create chances, and we do create chances," Solinas told reporters.

"Khama gets chances, Castro gets chances, [Dumisani] Zuma gets chances, this is very important that they create scoring chances. Now we need to improve on converting these chances.

"But I am happy with the performances of the guys, including the strikers and their combinations. They play very well [together].

"I am also proud of my strikers because, against Black Leopards they also did a good job defensively. We defend as a team which shows good team spirit."

Kick-off is at 18:00.
