Policewoman cracked 54 cases

A woman head constable attached with the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) recently received an award for solving 54 cases of missing persons and unidentified bodies.

Head constable Daisy who was working with the G-4 police station in the Institute of Mental Health was deputed to SCRB where she was assigned to handle records of missing persons and bodies.

Identifying bodies

Ms. Daisy said, “We receive photographs of missing persons and unidentified dead bodies from several police stations across the state. We compare the photographs of missing persons with dead bodies and identify them.

“If there is a match, we will intimate the concerned police station. The body will be handed over to the relatives or family members of the deceased person. Or death certificate will be issued to them.”

In the last one and half years, Ms. Daisy had been instrumental in identifying 54 cases of missing persons and bodies.

On October 30, she received an award at a conference organised by the National Crime Records Bureau, New Delhi, for good practices and success stories.

Commissioner of Police A.K. Viswanathan summoned her and appreciated her.
