3 arrested for ganja possession

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City police have arrested three people and seized 7.1 kg of ganja from them, here on Friday.

The trio were arrested near Kodikal Cross, while they were planning to transport the ganja to Kasaragod. The arrested are Kareppa Laxmana Sunadoli, 50, a resident of Belagavi, Gangappa Padeppa Madera, 39, from Vijayapura and Siddarayappa Kuri Holi, 36, a resident of Gokak taulk in Belagavi.


According to police, the trio used to procure ganja from Vijayapura and transport the same to Kasaragod. Apart from ganja, the police have also seized three cellphones, two motorbikes and Rs 315 from the accused. The total value of seized goods is about Rs 3.13 lakh.


A case has been registered at the Urwa police station under the NDPS Act.
