CSBC scraps recruitment process of more than 10,000 constables in Bihar

PATNA: The Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) scrapped the upcoming examination and entire recruitment process for filling-up vacancies of altogether 11,865 posts of constabulary in Bihar Police and Bihar Fire Service on Friday. Sources said the examination and recruitment process was scrapped on directions of state police headquarters.
The scrapping of examination and the recruitment process by CSBC came close to the heels of Patna high court’s order of October 31 directing the Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) to go through the entire process of publication of result for Mains examination conducted for the recruitment of 1717 sub-inspectors (SI) in the state police as massive violation of rules and regulations had took place in the result publication. The SI recruitment process had come at almost final stage.
The constable recruitment examinations were scheduled to the held in two shifts on November 25 and in one shift on December 2. After the examinations, a physical efficiency test was to be held for the selection of final candidates against the vacant posts.
According to the CSBC sources, around 11 lakh candidates had applied for posts of which application forms of 8.6 lakh candidates were found to be error free and were scheduled to take part in the upcoming examination. Altogether 9,900 constables and 1965 firemen were to be recruited for the state police and BFS by CSBC for which it had even issued admit cards on October 29 this year.
CSBC, in a notification issued on its website giving information about the scrapping of recruitment process, did not clarified the reason behind its action. The minimum educational qualification for the examination was intermediate
The constable recruitment board had published advertisement for the recruitment on May 25 this year after which all the processes were followed for the recruitment.
CSBC chairman Jitendra Kumar while talking to TOI over phone, said that the examination and the recruitment process were scrapped on the directions for the state police headquarters.
“Only those in headquarters would be the eligible person to comment that why the recruitment process was scrapped,” he said.
Sources said that next schedule for the entire recruitment process would be initiated after headquarters sends a fresh requisition for the vacant posts.
