Oaks Day 2018: Results, tips and live action from ladies' day at Flemington

And here she is...

Here we go, we have eyes on Jennifer Hawkins.

She has arrived for her final appearance for Myer and is teaming with the theme of pink. She's wearing an Alex Perry frock and her headpiece is by Ezara J and Cerrone.

Last lap for J Hawk

Myer is preparing to say goodbye to the twelve year legacy of Jennifer Hawkins as its face. We can't wait to see her ladies' day look later today when she judges her final Myer Fashions on the Field.

Not the usual commute

Here's an unusual sight on a Metro train - colour! Good to see Melbourne abandoning its traditional black occasionally.

The miserable conditions on Tuesday gave reporter Liam Mannix a cold but he has managed to manscape himself into acceptable raceday shape.  Our fashion editor still has the edge on him though I think.

He has this to say about his ensemble: Just in case you are wondering what I am wearing today, and of course you are... Today I've been dressed by Jack London, Ralph Lauren, and makeup by Nivea. I found the tie at the bottom of my locker at work! #winning

More pink

More from Jasmine Riley on the colour of the morning: Kate Waterhouse shines in a dusky pink ruched Dolce & Gabbana satin dress, with matching Chaumet jewellery. Can this woman do no wrong?

More Oaks veterans

Reporter Liam Mannix has met some more Oaks die-hards: Radhika Kanhai (second from right) is an Oaks veteran. She's been 5 times - and has accumulated a dozen different fascinators. Of course, none matched her outfit today. So she held a "fascinator swap meet" with a friend. The piled all of their fascinators on a bench at a pub and picked the ones they wanted. Radhika has come away with a dashing green number, but her friend took two - "and then didn't wear either of them!"

On Thursdays, we wear pink

Or at least we do when it's Oaks Day. Reporter Jasmine Riley has more on the hue winning the day so far: Is pink an early theme for ladies' day? Model Brooke Hogan wears custom Forever New jumpsuit and boater. She's even wearing a shimmery pink eye shadow to match. Now that's commitment.

Family affair

Our intrepid reporter Liam Mannix, who got soaked on Cup Day, is having a better time today and meeting some lovely racegoers: Meet the Harrans. Mum Teresa, 80, and her three daughters and her daughter-in-law. "We've broken into the bird cage four times!" boasts Kate Weeks (middle). "Oh god, don't say that, he's writing it all down" cringes Teresa. "We just talked and talked and eventually they let us in," says Kate.

The ladies claim to be minor celebrities at the Cup. "We always sit on the same bench - the Scottish girls bench outside the Birdcage. We've been on TV," says Kate. "Four Scottish girls and their Irish mum," says Teresa.

The pair head for the 10.24 to Flemington on platform 14 at Southern Cross. Teresa pinches this reporter's cheek. "Liam - that's a good Irish name! See you in the Birdcage."

Mumspiration

Reporter Jasmine Riley has another sneak peek at trackside fashion: We just can't get enough of the puff. Myer ambassador Rachael Finch wears Nicola Finetti pink one-sleeve dress and Melissa Jackson hat. What inspired this look you ask? Her mum.

Early crowning achievement

People are making their way to the Birdcage enclosure, including our fashion editor Melissa Singer, looking very regal indeed.
