Coimbatore: With the time to receive applications to the vacant administrative posts at Bharathiar University ending on Thursday, officials of the university said they would start the process of scrutinizing applications and selecting people for interviews after consulting with the chief secretary of the higher education department Mangat Ram Sharma.

The university had called for applications for administrative posts such as registrar, controller of examinations, dean of college development council, director of the school of distance education and public relations officer, last month. It had said the last date for sending in applications was Thursday. A university official said they had received applications till Thursday evening and would not extend it further.

As the principal secretary of the higher education department would visit the university on Friday, the official said they would consult with him and proceed further with the applications. The university is set to hold syndicate and senate meetings on November 15 and 16 to choose nominees for the VC search committee, so the university would set a time frame to complete the recruitment procedures after that, said the official.

The administrative posts have been lying vacant for more than a year and were being held by in-charges. In August, two of the posts were shuffled and two weeks later they were shuffled again due to administrative reasons.

Meanwhile, the university would conduct the Career Advancement Scheme for associate professors and professors, said an official. Around 30 teaching faculty members of the university would be undertaking it, said a university official.
