PUDUCHERRY: A power pop band from Bengaluru, ’The Heights’, and jazz vocalist and guitarist Kirtana Krishna will enthral the audience at the live music show, ‘SecSatPondy,’ here on November 10. The programme will be held at the renovated Bandstand venue, which is situated behind the Nehru statue in Gandhi Thidal on the Beach Road from 7pm.
The Heights comprises singer and keyboard player Abhijith Kishan, bassist-vocalist Nithin Iyer and drummer-percussionist Arpith Bhonsley.
The band started initially as a Michael Jackson tribute band gaining a lot of attention. Later they developed into an outfit presenting the genre known as 'power pop' playing soulful melodies and catchy hooks.
All of them are accomplished musicians having won several competitions. They compose music for documentaries and film background scores in the Kannada film industry.
The band will perform latest hits like Ed Sheeran's 'Shape o You', Maroon 5's 'Girls Like You' & 'One More Night', LSD's 'Thunderclouds', Lucas G's '7 Years', Pharell W's 'Happy', Bruno Mars,' 'Billionaire' and others. Of course, Michael Jackson’s greatest hits will be part of the setlist. The band will also play a few of their originals.
Kirtana Krishna will present a set of standards like Duke Ellington's 'In A Sentimental Mood', Hubbard's 'Red Clay', Turrentine's 'Sugar' and some Bossa favourites by Carlos Jobim & Gilberto Gil. A couple of her originals will be also on the list.
Hailing from Bengaluru, Kirtana graduated from Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in 2013. She has been part of many musical ensembles in Bengaluru and elsewhere. She frequently visits Adishakti in Auroville, where she enjoys the theatre and helps the troupe with their productions.
