Gymnasium owner held with steroids worth ₹10 lakh

The City Shadow Police on Thursday arrested a gymnasium owner with an illegal stock of steroids worth ₹10 lakh.

The arrested is Miraj, 27, a resident of Changanassery, who runs a fitness centre at Elamakkara. A huge stock of steroids in various forms and syringes were recovered from where he stays.

The accused was under surveillance following information received by District Police Chief (Kochi City) M.P. Dinesh that college students were taking steroids from him without doctor’s prescription.

The accused sourced the imported steroids from Chennai. According to the police, he even illegally sold steroids injected in animals and charged ₹3,000 for a single injection.

The operation coordinated by Biji George, Assistant Commissioner of Police, District Crime Branch, was carried out by a team comprising A.B. Vipin, Sub Inspector, Shadow Police; Prajeesh Sasi, Sub Inspector, Elamakkara Police, and Shadow Police personnel Afsal, Sanu Mon, Vishal, Yousuf, Prashanth, Ranjith, and Sunil.
