Security guard arrested with gun, valuables worth Rs 54 lakh

SURAT: Crime branch sleuths arrested a 42-year-old security guard with cash and valuables worth Rs 54 lakh, a pistol and six cartridges on Wednesday from near Mangal Pande Hall on Godadara road of Limbayat. During questioning, the accused informed police that the firearm and cash belonged to a eunuch currently lodged in Lajpore Central Jail (LCJ) facing murder charges.
A patrolling team of crime branch arrested Ruturajsinh Chauhan, a resident of Godadara road, while they were checking individuals in Limbayat. Police recovered the cash, valuables and firearm from the bag he was carrying. The accused was booked for possessing firearm.
Chauhan told police that he was given the valuables and firearm by an eunuch Payal Kunwar Asha Kunwar (35). Payal and Chauhan both live in Ram Rajya Society. Chauhan told police that Payal trusted him as he was a security guard and wanted him to keep the valuables safe.
“Chauhan told police that he was taking the valuables to his village for safe keeping,” said a police officer of crime branch.
Payal, was arrested for her alleged involvement in a murder case registered in Khatodara police station on April 19 this year. Since then she was lodged in LCJ.
Payal who operated a group of eunuchs has around 40 members. She along with other accused allegedly killed another eunuch Pinky on April 19 over a dispute over territory for donation collection. The groups often clashed with each other over control of different areas.
Police said that Payal receive around 40% share of the total donation collected by the group members.
