HYDERABAD: Balladeer Gaddar on Thursday announced that he would contest the polls from Gajwel assembly constituency from where chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is seeking a reelection. Speaking to the media, Gaddar said this would be the first time that he himself would actually be voting as he had registered himself as a voter. Congress candidate Vanteru Pratap Reddy’s name is expected to be officially announced from Gajwel.
Gaddar said though he had met Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi recently, he had not joined the Congress. “They heard my songs for 45 minutes,” he said. It may be mentioned here that Gaddar’s son G Surya Kiran had also accompanied him and it was rumoured that he was seeking a Congress ticket to contest the polls. The Congress is to announce the names of its candidates on November 9.
“I do not belong to any party,” he said. Gaddar also said he had asked for personal security for him and in this connection, he also met the police. He also said he would tour reserved constituencies phase-wise starting with ST and then SC and BC to educate people on making an informed decision about their voting.
