Drunk youth rapes sister on Diwali night, held

GURUGRAM: A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his younger sister at their Farrukhnagar home.

According to the police, the accused along with his father consumed alcohol on the night of Diwali and went to his sister’s room and forced himself on her after his father retired to his room for the night.

On Thursday morning, the 15-year-old girl, who is a student of Class X, told her father about the incident when the accused had left for work. The man immediately accompanied the girl and approached the police.

“I have been residing at our Farrukhnagar house with my four children — three daughters and a son. My wife, who is mentally ill, has been missing from past many years. On Wednesday, after performing puja at our house, my son and I consumed alcohol. My eldest and youngest daughter were sleeping in one room while my 15-year-old daughter was sleeping alone in one room. As I had got very drunk, I retired to my room to sleep. My son was still consuming alcohol when I went to bed. After a while he went inside the room where the 15-year-old was sleeping and raped her,” the girl’s father told police in his statement.

The girl was sent for a medical examination that confirmed rape. An FIR under Section 6 of the POCSO Act was registered against the youth at Manesar’s women police station. The accused, who works as a labourer, was arrested by Thursday afternoon.

“We were shocked that a brother could rape his sister and in his confession justified it by saying that he was drunk. He was produced in a city court on Thursday and sent to judicial custody,” said SHO Kanta Yadav.
