Minister presents literacy exam topper with laptop

Karthyayani Amma’s desire to learn computers is set to come true.

The 96-year-old Haripad native who became the oldest learner to clear the Aksharalaksham literacy examination of the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority was presented with a laptop by Minister for Education C. Ravindranath.

She had made no secret of her wish to learn computer and pass the Class X equivalency examination when she had reached the State capital to receive her certificate from the Chief Minister.

On Wednesday, Mr. Ravindranath visited Karthyayani Amma, who secured 98 out of 100 marks in the examination, at her home and gifted her a laptop. As soon as she got the laptop, she typed her name in English.

Director of Public Instruction K.V. Mohankumar and SIET Director B. Aburaj accompanied the Minister.
