Jalandhar: 18 fires break out on Diwali day

Nearly 9 fire tenders were sent to these three places to control the fires while remaining 11 tenders were moving in the cities to control other fires.

Around 18 fires, including few major ones, were reported from Jalandhar on Diwali including three at Nalhawala pull in Basti area on a scrap shop, in a timber goods shop on Nakodar Chowk and Gopal nagar area. No human loss was reported.

Nearly 9 fire tenders were sent to these three places to control the fires while remaining 11 tenders were moving in the cities to control other fires. The cause of all the fires is said to be crackers. Fire brigade officials said that entire team was alerted last time and they control all other fires well in time.

No loss of life was reported but the goods worth several lakhs were gutted.
