CHENNAI: Actor and president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Kamal Haasan on Wednesday said his party is ready to contest bypolls to 20 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu.
His party has already appointed 80% of field workers in all these 20 assembly segments. "No one is sure when or whether the bypolls will be held. However, we are ready to contest the polls as and when they are held," Kamal said here. Addressing the media on his 64th birthday, the actor said his party had already filled 80% of posts at the field level in all these 20 assembly seats.
Responding to questions from the media, Kamal said he was a tool of the people and not that of any political party or a group. "If corruption is removed, measures taken through every state government department will flourish," Kamal said.
DMK president M K Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president called up Kamal and extended their birthday greetings to him.
