Vadodara: Makarpura police arrested three persons allegedly involved in kidnapping of a man over a rift in running escorts business in city on Tuesday night.
The victim Sandeep Kumar, who lives in Tarsali, was abducted by 10 persons from near Lalbaug bridge when he was on his way to Raatri Bazaar in the wee hours of November 4.
The trio identified as Amitkumar Chamar, a native of Haryana, Arjun Singh Rajput and Dharmendra Jadaun, both residents of Madhya Pradesh, were arrested from Vasna-Bhayli Road. Police said that the trio was hired by some locals including a woman identified as Sweety. These locals work for the kingpin Arvind Jain, who is based in Delhi and runs the website for hotel booking in Vadodara and also supplies escorts to customers.
According to police sources, Kumar, who was earlier working for Jain, was abducted to teach him a lesson. He had joined another company which was also involved in similar business of supplying escorts resulting in loss to Jain. Police officials said that besides joining another company, Kumar may have done something which would have miffed Jain. “We are searching for Jain’s local henchmen because once they are held we will be able to know more what exactly transpired,” a police official said.
Kumar was abducted in his own car and taken around the city and thrashed on the way.
Kidnappers remained in touch with Kumar’s wife Pooja which kept the cops and police control room on its toes for several hours on November 4. The victim was allowed to go in the early hours of November following which he reached Sayajigunj police station.
One of the abductors Asif Vohra, who lives in Tandalja, was immediately arrested after Kumar returned. He claimed to be a friend of Kumar leading to suspicion that he was also working for Jain in city.
