Thieves decamp with cash, jewellery from Panchkula house

PANCHKULA: Some unidentified persons decamped with jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh and Rs 1 lakh cash from a house in Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 4. The family members was in Gurgaon when the incident took place.
"I was in Gurgaon with my family when the incident took place. Even the helper, Pradeep, had gone to his house in Saketri," the complainant, Avdhesh Narayan Mathur (45), told cops.
As per the cops, Pradeep alerted Mathur about the incident. He told him that some unidentified person had broken the lock of one of the windows and entered the house with the purpose to loot.
Mathur reached home as soon as he could and called cops to look into the matter. Mathur found that the thief had entered his house after breaking a window in the kitchen.
Mathur said that he went into shock after finding that gold jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh, silver utensils and Rs 1 lakh cash was stolen from an almirah in the house.
The cops also called a team of forensic experts at his house. The team inspected the place and took samples of finger prints and other important facts from the spot.
As of now, a case under Section 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at MDC police station.
"We are fetching footage dumps from the CCTV cameras installed at near places," said investigation officer Rohtash Singh.
