From international sporting legends to national sporting icons, everyone took time out to wish fans and well-wishers for Diwali.
India's cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar celebrate the festival of lights with his close friends and former cricketers -- Jonty Rhodes and Brett Lee.
"Diwali is all about happiness and having sweets. @brettlee_58, @jontyrhodes8 and I enjoyed a few laughs and some mithai too. Have a safe Diwali filled with laughter, everyone. #HappyDiwali," Tendulkar tweeted.
American wrestler John Cena, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, extended his warm wishes for his fans on social media.
He took to his official Instagram account and shared a picture wishing everyone a Happy Diwali.
The 'Bumblebee' actor is known to be a huge fan of India and has an extremely loyal fan following in the country. He has made it a tradition to wish his Indian fans on every festival.
Former badminton doubles champion Jwala Gutta shared a picture of a family celebration and posted her wishes on Instagram.
"Party with my best best bestiesssssss... The best time ever..May the light in our friendship grow brighter by day!! HAPPY DIWALI!! #friendswhoarefamily #mycore #myfamily," she wrote.
Latest track-and-field sensation Hima Das took to Twitter to wish her followers on the occasion of Diwali.
“Wishing health, love and prosperity for all. Let's celebrate a Happy and a safe Diwali #HappyDiwali,” tweeted Hima.
Former opener and iconic cricketer Virender Sehwag also wished his fans on the micro-blogging site.
“May you leave a little sparkle wherever you go. May there be light and Love wherever you go. Wishing you a very #HappyDiwali,” read Sehwag’s tweet.
Also extending their greetings on the festival of light were Arsenal striker Mesut Ozil and former captain and current Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Conveying his wishes through the official Twitter handle of the Government of Pakistan, the post read: Prime Minister Imran Khan has felicitated Hindu community of Pakistan on the occasion of #Diwali and has expressed best wishes for them. #HappyDiwali.”
A sweet, surprising Diwali message came on Arsenal FC’s Twitter page. The EPL club’s page has striker Mesut Ozil wishing fans.
“If you're celebrating Diwali today, then we've got a special message for you... #HappyDiwali from @MesutOzil1088 and everyone at the club,” the post read.
Former India player Mohammad Kaif also posted his wishes: “Wishing you a very happy and prosperous Diwali #HappyDiwali,” he wrote on Twitter.
