An alleged case of gangrape that has already been transferred to three different police stations across the city, has stumped the investigators as the only clue they are left with is the mobile number of the prime suspect. According to the police, the 18-year-old girl, who suffers from mental illness, alleged that she was gangraped by three men. The police, however, said the prime suspect has already left the country. According to police officers, the incident took place in the intervening night of October 10 and October 11.
An officer said: “She fought with her sister in the evening of October 10 after which she left the house and came back the next day.”
After she returned, the 18-year-old complained of severe stomach-ache, and when her sister inquired, she told her about the alleged incident. The victim alleged that she went to Bandra (East), the area where they lived until five years ago, where she allegedly met her former classmate, Rahul Mishra, who then raped her, along his two friends Suraj and Rakesh.
“The victim’s father found a piece of paper with her, in which the number of the prime suspect was written. The father called him and threatened to register a case against him,” said an officer.
The father, a resident of Nallasopara, registered a case of gangrape with Tulinj police station and as the victim in her police statement alleged that the incident had taken place in the jurisdiction of Nirmal Nagar police station in Bandra, the case was transferred.
“The case was registered in the evening of October 11 and transferred to Nirmal Nagar police station the same night,” said an officer.
Nirmal Nagar police conducted a preliminary probe and as they learnt that the incident had taken place in the jurisdiction of Tardeo police station, the case was then transferred again on October 17.
“They recorded the statements of the neighbours, following which they were informed that victim was seen with the suspect near his residence in Tardeo on October 10, so the case was then again transferred,” said an IPS officer.
