Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena agrees to summon parliament on November 7

The Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has consented to summon parliament on November 7. This was following calls by political parties for a floor test to figure out which part held the majority and a direct result of the country being thrown into political turmoil after Sirisena appointed Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa as PM, after abruptly dismissing the Ranil Wickremsinghe government. Wickremsinghe has declared the removal as unconstitutional and demands to be allowed to prove his majority in parliament.
