A five-member delegation of the Kochi Corporation met civic representatives of Vilnuis in Lithuania.
The visit by the delegation led by Deputy Mayor T.J. Vinod is part of an international urban cooperation project, which is implemented with financial support from the European Union. The programme aims to improve cooperation between cities.
The delegation comprises P.M. Haris and K.V. P. Krishnakumar, chairpersons of works and tax appeal standing committees; K.J. Antony, CPI(M) leader in the corporation council, and Rajan Chedambath, secretary of the Centre for Heritage Environment and Development.
Panagiotis Karamanos, a representative of the international urban cooperation project, is also part of the delegation.
Besides Kochi, Shimla, Lucknow, Nagpur, Panaji, Gwalior, Solapur, Surat, Vijayawada, Chennai, Udaipur, and South Delhi are partners in the project.
A delegation from Lithuania will visit Kochi in January next year as part of the exchange programme, said a communication issued by the Kochi Corporation.
