Naked man, 33, is accused of inappropriately touching himself in front of a female jogger on an empty beach

A man accused of stalking a jogger before exposing himself to her on a quiet beach will face court.  

At 11.35am on Saturday a woman, 30, was jogging along Grays Lane at Tyagarah, south of Tweed Heads, when she noticed a white utility parked on the side of the road.

The woman claims the man looked at her intently, prompting her to cross to other side of the road in an effort to keep some distance between them.

As she continued her run, the woman said she saw the utility drive past her and stop a short distance ahead.

The man then allegedly got out of his car and walked toward while her grinning.

As the woman continued her run to the beach, the utility allegedly followed her at a slow pace before passing her. 

The woman continued toward the beach with the hope there would be other people in the area.

As she entered the car park, the woman claimed she saw the man, who had removed his clothes, standing beside his truck.

When the woman walked past the man, he looked at her and allegedly performed an indecent act.

The woman continued to the beach, but could not find anyone to assist her.

When she returned to the carpark, the naked man again performed an indecent act.

The woman then ran to her home to tell her partner.

Police were contacted and details of the vehicle were provided to them.

Officers from Tweed Byron Police District were travelling to Tyagarah Beach about 1.25pm when they observed the utility travelling along Grays Lane.

The officers spoke to a 33-year-old man who was driving and arrested him.

The man was taken to the Byron Bay Police Station and later charged with commit act of indecency and intimidation. 

He has been granted strict conditional bail to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on Thursday, November 22.
