Vedanta chairman praises Odisha government ahead of the 'Make in Odisha' conclave
Sujit kumar bisoyi | TNN | Nov 6, 2018, 20:41 ISTBHUBANESWAR: Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal on Tuesday lauded the state government’s effort in ease of doing business and creating encouraging investment climate in the state. “Very happy that Odisha government is encouraging investment climate and improving ease of doing business, industries will not only create employment but also strengthen the economy of the state,” tweeted Agarwal.
Confirming his participation in the five-day conclave, scheduled from November 11 to 15 here, the Vedanta chairman said, “The pro-business and pro-growth stance of the Odisha govt. is much needed and should be replicated by other states. I am looking forward to being a part of Make in Odisha summit next week.”
The Vedanta Resources has so far invested around Rs 50,000 crore for setting up of its refinery at Lanjigarh and smelter at Jharsuguda, which altogether generated direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 1 lakh people in Odisha.
The high-level clearance authority (HLCA) of the state government led by chief minister Naveen Patnaik recently cleared proposal of expansions of both the refinery at Lanjigarh and smelter in Jharsuguda which together Vedanta chairman praises Odisha government ahead of the Make in Odisha conclave will have an additional investment of over Rs 6,700 crore.
Another proposal of the company to set up a chemical by-product at Dhamra in Bhadrak with an investment of Rs 6,500 crore was also got HLCA nod.
