Mumbai: Pradip Nimbalkar, chairman of Shri Chhatrapati Cooperative Sugar (SCCS) mill, at Indapur in Pune district, committed suicide on Monday afternoon. He shot himself by pistol when he was at his home at Sansar near Indapur. He was declared dead before admitting the hospital. According to police, Nimbalkar had left a suicide note stating, “nobody should be responsible for my death.” A staunch supporter of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, Nimbalkar was elected as the chairman of the sugar mill just last Thursday.
An NCP insider claimed the reason behind his suicide could be a land dispute within his family. Nimbalkar has a brother and three sisters. “He sold a piece of land, six months ago. After which a dispute between the family members broke out, over the share of proceeds. On Sunday, there was some friction over the same issue in his house and there was a lot of tension. This could be the reason for his suicide,” said the NCP leader.
