You Can Now Fit Your BMW Sport Bike With M Performance Parts

For the first time ever, BMW is is offering M options and M Performance parts on one of their motorcycles, specifically the new and more lightweight third-generation S 1000 RR sport bike.

Customers will thus be able to decorate and improve their bikes using new BMW Motorrad accessories, while also creating a bridge between “the most powerful letter in the world”, fast BMW automobiles and this brand new motorcycle model.

What am I getting?

By adding the M package to the S 1000 RR, you gain a motorsport paint finish, M carbon fiber wheels, an M lightweight battery, M Chassis Kit with rear ride height adjustment and swingarm pivot, the M sport seat and a Pro Mode, the latter being an even more track focused riding mode than “Race Mode.”

Launched at EICMA 2018, the new BMW S 1000 RR features a newly developed engine and suspension, with the engine output increased by 6 kW (8 HP), reaching a maximum of 152 kW (207 PS / 203 HP) in Europe and 151 kW (205 PS / 202 HP) in the U.S.

Even though this third-gen bike already weighs less than its predecessor (197 kg / 434 lbs down from 208 kg / 458 lbs), you can cut that even more by adding the M Package, which brings the total weight down to 193.5 kg (426.6 lbs).

“Our fascinating brief was to take the predecessor model – which has been a dominating force in all disciplines for 10 years – and significantly improve on its performance. This we translated into straightforward targets: one second faster on the track, more than 10 kg lighter and easier to control. The result is a fascinating new motorcycle that exceeds the targets we set ourselves and will once again set the benchmark,” stated Claudio De Martino, Vehicle Technology team leader.
