Two people have been sentenced to five years in jail for electricity theft by a local court.
In the first case, Mohammed Mansuri of Kutbe Alam Nagar, Vatva, and in the second case, Aslamkhan Pathan of Saraspur, were found to be utilising electricity through an illegal network, during vigilance raids on March 14, 2016, and September 14, 2011, respectively.
Pathan was also found to be involved in operating an illegal network for power theft.
Assessment of Rs14.88 lakh was arrived at in the first case, and Rs5.85 lakh in the second instance.
FIRs were also filed with GUVNL police station against them.
Torrent said that the city civil and sessions court sentenced the two accused to five years in jail on October 30, and imposed fine three times the assessment amount on them.
