Chinta welcomes TDP-Congress tie-up

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Chinta Mohan on Monday exhorted all secular parties to rally behind the Congress party to defeat the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, which had not only failed on all fronts but also undermined constitutional bodies putting the very ‘parliamentary democracy at peril’.

Addressing the media here, he welcomed Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu shedding his party’s ‘anti-Congressism’ in the larger interests of the country at a time when the national economy was on ‘ventilator support’ due to the wrong policies of the Narendra Modi government.

But for the huge deposits pouring into the country from Non-Resident Indians, the country would have been in a serious balance of payment crisis, he said, adding that upset over the government functioning, NRIs might take back their deposits if the economic mismanagement continued.

‘Political interference’

“The political interference in the functioning of high offices like the Reserve Bank of India, the Central Bureau of Investigation had reached the peak under the Narendra Modi regime,” he felt at a media conference here.

Invite to Pawan

He invited actor-politician Pawan Kalyan of the Jana Sena Party too to join the Congress as it alone was in a position to extend the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and ensure all benefits to the fledgling State.
