Mumbai: Western Railway organised an exhibition at Churchgate station to commemorate the 67th Foundation Day on Monday, which was inaugurated by A K Gupta, General Manager, WR in the presence of Rahul Jain, Additional General Manager, Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer and other senior officers of WR.
On the same day, AK Gupta also released the Coffee Table Book of WR’s Station Beautification titled ‘Klassique Kaleidoscope” which encompasses the beautiful paintings which adorns the stations of WR. According to a release, the exhibition showcased the various developments by Western Railway since its inception on November 5, 1951, including various achievements, milestones, prestigious chronicles in the history of WR, etc. through a series of informative panels. Bhakar stated that WR is also a pioneer in the entire Indian Railways in various fields such as the First AC EMU local, the Double Decker Dwarf container, first Milk Van in the country, etc. to name a few, which has been portrayed beautifully.
Another highlight of the exhibition are the running models of the various trains plying over WR such as AC local train, Double stack container train, Humsafar Express, Rajdhani Express, etc as well as the static paper models of these trains were displayed. A fun filled interactive digital quiz corner – ‘Brain Teaser’ is also being conducted for children as well as elders alike. A major attraction of this exhibition is the selfie corner wherein a cutout of a heritage locomotive has been placed adjacent to theexhibition for taking selfies. A memento desk has also been set up for the sale of various books, memorabilia for the public. This exhibition will remain open for the public from 10 am to 6 pm up to November 7. Entry to the exhibition is free of cost.
