Former national gymnast to take diksha on father’s b’day
tnn | Nov 7, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: A 22-year-old woman, who was a national-level gymnast till few years ago, has decided to give her father a unique birthday gift. A double graduate, Pooja Shah will become a nun on February 14, 2019, her father’s birthday.
Former student of Pravruti Vidyalaya and Jeevan Bharti School, Pooja decided to sacrifice all the worldly pleasures a year ago.
“Having mercy for all and living simple life gives one eternal happiness. When you have no expectations from anyone and no anger for them, you are near eternal peace. The day I understood this truth, I decided to take diksha,” said Diksha, a commerce graduate.
Last year Pooja gave up rhythmic gymnastics to concentrate on her studies. “Being part of the national rhythmic gymnastics team or getting distinction in class XII or first class in MCom doesn’t matter. What matters is that I have been able to choose the right path out of two options of ‘sansar’ and ‘saiyam’,” she said.
After diksha, Pooja will be with Gunaratna Suriji Maharaj sect with Mahavir Rekhaji being her tutor and mentor.
Pooja’s father Kirit is a diamond trader. “It will be the best birthday gift when my daughter takes diksha,” Kirit said.
