Brace yourself for a long weekend of Bank Holidays this Diwali week. The Banks will remain shut on Wednesday and Thursday (November 7th and 8th), after which they will be working on Friday (November 9th).
The banks will be working on Friday (November 9), but remain closed on November 10, the second Saturday of the month. In 2015 the government had accepted the long-pending demand of workers to declare second and fourth Saturdays as holidays. In case of a month having five Saturdays, banks will be closed only on second and fourth Saturdays.
However, if you have planned to withdraw cash from your bank branch, you are advised to do it on Tuesday. You may well withdraw cash in advance from the ATM for your festival shopping. Though, it’s better to pay using digital methods to have a hassle-free shopping experience.
Considering the need of the hour, people are advised to use the card and mobile wallets more for completing their daily needs and transactions. To be in a comfortable position during these bank holidays, people should use net banking services for payment of larger amounts to avoid any possible cash crunch.
