Will teach cops who pushed me a lesson: Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari grapples with police personnel.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari Sunday threatened to teach Delhi policemen a “lesson in the next four days” after a fracas with police personnel including an additional DCP at the inauguration of the Signature Bridge.

Trouble ensued after Tiwari with several party workers tried to enter the AAP government’s event to inaugurate the Signature Bridge. Alleging they were not invited Tiwari allegedly tried to force his way through the police barricades.

In a video released by ANI, Tiwari is seen grappling with additional DCP-I R P Meena. Minutes after the incident, Tiwari told ANI: “Police ke kuch logon ne jo Arvind Kejriwal ke saath milkar mujhe dhakka mukki kiya hai, un logon ki bhi shinakht ho gayi hai. Koi Meena hai jo yahan ke additional DCP 1 hain. Mai ek ek logon ko pehchaan chuka hoon, inki saari mai kundali nikaal chuka hun, aur chaar din ke andar inhe bataunga ki police kya hoti hai.”

“(Some police personnel who support Arvind Kejriwal pushed me around, they have been identified. There is also some person named Meena, who is additional DCP-I. I have identified all of them. I have their history and in four days, I will show them what police is.)”

An MP from North East Delhi, Tiwari later released another purported video which shows AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan pushing Tiwari.

Calling the incident “unprecedented”, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Twitter: “Chaos by BJP at Signature Bridge inauguration site. It’s a Del govt prog. Police mute spectator. Can LG, being head of Del police, ensure peace and order at Signature bridge inauguration site?”

Joint Commissioner of Police (eastern range) Ravindra Yadav said: “As far as scuffle is concerned… The basic point of dispute was that the MP wanted to get on the stage whereas the organisers didn’t want him to do that. The BJP group was moving towards stage so, police officers including DCP, ADDL DCP, and ACPs were like a buffer between the groups.”

“It’s our professional hazard to bear the brunt of surging crowds in such situations and we have to undergo such situations very frequently. It’s the sort of pressure during law and order situations we work in all the time. I have nothing to comment on the statements made.”
