Furious parents slammed the Corporation after the gender-neutral term was used in CBeebies children's programme Catie's Amazing Machines.
Speaking in a recent episode, Catie Munnings, who fronts the show, says: 'Snow is amazing. You get to build snowpeople and go sledging.'
The remark caused a stir among many social media users, who criticised the BBC for giving in to 'snowflake' viewers by seemingly banning the word snowman.

Furious parents slammed the Corporation after the gender-neutral term 'snowpeople' was used in CBeebies children's programme Catie's Amazing Machines
One father, Simon Gurd, raged: 'Put CBeebies on for my daughter and they are referring to "snowpeople".
'More PC garbage and indoctrination from the BBC. Another reason to abolish the licence fee.'
Wendy Thompson added: 'I'm all for things being PC to prevent being offensive, racist, ageist, sexist, etc, but this is really taking it too far.
'It's ridiculous now even a joke at times. I'm sorry but being PC is simply what most people would class as being tactful and polite.'
Good Morning Britain co-presenter also revealed his exasperation at the use of the term on today's show.
He told viewers: 'You don’t build snowpeople, you build some men. We, mankind, hu-mans, have built snow-men for 10,000 years.
'Katie you seem a lovely lady, whoever you are, but they are not snowpeople, they are snowmen.'

Staff in Strasbourg have been told to reduce references to 'women or men' in a new rule book called Gender Neutral Language In The European Parliament
The furore comes a few days after the European Union moved to suppress everyday phrases such as 'manpower' and replace them with gender-neutral terms.
Staff in Strasbourg have been told to reduce references to 'women or men' in a new rule book called Gender Neutral Language In The European Parliament.
The new guidelines are aimed at EU translators tasked with converting documents between the different languages spoken and written by the 28 member states.
The online document suggests words such as 'chairman' be replaced by 'chairperson', and 'policeman' or 'policewoman' by substituted for 'police officer'.
It also recommends the word 'stewardess' by avoided in preference of 'flight attendant', and 'principal' by used instead of 'headmaster' or 'headmistress'.
