A P-plate driver has been caught on camera attempting to perform an extremely dangerous U-turn on a busy road, narrowly avoiding a devastating nose-to-tail crash.
The near-miss was captured on a dash-mounted camera at Mount Ousley, near Wollongong in New South Wales at 2.03pm on Friday.
While travelling at high speed in the right-hand lane, the P-plate driver in a white Mazda decided to slam on the brakes and indicate right in the face of heavy traffic.
The sudden stop almost caught a trailing driver unaware, who came inches from slamming into the back of the learner.

The driver travelling behind the P-plater captured the video, and it was uploaded to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page.
Viewers shared their outrage at the 'idiotic' actions of the P-plate driver.
'I probably would have held my hand on the horn until they were out of the way,' one person said.
'Good work not slamming into the back of them! What a potato,' another said.
