HYDERABAD: Sharpshooter Nawab Shafat Ali Khan on Sunday rubbished Union minister Maneka Gandhi’s charges of ‘terror’ links and ‘tiger murder’. He said the order of chief conservator of forest (T), Yavatmal of Maharashtra forest department, mentioned the name of his son Asghar Ali Khan and four others as part of the team.

In a clarification order on October 6, 2018, based on the orders issued by chief wildlife warden, Maharashtra, and a letter written by Nawab Shafat on October 5, Yavatmal CF has stated: “Under Section 11 (2) of Wildlife Protection Act, killing or wounding in good faith of any wildlife in defence of oneself shall not be an offence.”

Nawab Shafat Ali Khan said: “Thirty years ago my father had an issue with a DIG of police in a land deal and a false case was booked against me under Arms Act in Rajendranagar where they alleged that I had supplied arms to Naxals. The courts, including the Supreme Court, acquitted me. The pistol seized from me was a toy,”
