Against Cabinet decision: MYL

The Muslim Youth League (MYL) has sought the resignation of Minister K.T. Jaleel accusing him of violating a Cabinet decision on the appointment of senior officials to public sector undertakings (PSU).

P.K. Firos, MYL general secretary, told the media on Sunday that the Minister’s justifications did not hold water. “On October 13, 2016, the Cabinet had finalised certain guidelines to be followed in appointments to PSUs. One of them was the mandatory clearance from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB). Another norm was that an expert panel should clear their names. Both these were violated in K.T. Adeeb’s appointment,” he alleged.

Mr. Firos demanded that the department disclose the details of the seven candidates who had attended the interview.

“The Minister referred to South Indian Bank, where Mr. Adeeb worked as a senior manager, as a statutory board. Also, he mentioned about the appointment of personal staff to K.M. Mani’s office, when he was the Finance Minister. These are lies and childish excuses,” Mr. Firos said.

March today

He said that a complaint had been filed with the VACB and an appointment sought with the Governor to apprise him of the issue. The MYL would take out a march to the Secretariat and the Corporation office on Monday, he added.
