The Pallavaram police took possession of a body before the accident victim’s relatives were able to bury it.
Police sources said Jayaprakash, 38, a contract worker, was electrocuted while carrying out work in an under-construction building in Pallavaram on Friday. He was rushed to a private hospital, but died on the way. His relatives were informed about the incident. But they insisted that the body be sent to their home directly.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the victim’s house in Gandhi Nagar in Chromepet and recovered the body. It was sent to the Government Hospital in Chromepet for post-mortem.
An investigation is under way with the contractor firm, the police said.
