New set of Judges for HC Bench

To preside over court proceedings

A new set of judges will preside over court proceedings at Madurai Bench of Madras High Court from November 8.

A Division Bench of Justices K.K. Sasidharan and P.D. Audikesavalu will hear public interest litigation petitions, writ appeals relating to motor vehicle, local administration, land reforms, land tenancy, agricultural marketing, labour, service, electricity and contempt proceedings.

A Division Bench of Justices R. Subbiah and R. Tharani will hear habeas corpus petitions, criminal appeals, including cases relating to crime against women and other criminal matters, income tax appeals, writ petitions relating to land encroachment and unauthorised construction.

A Division Bench of Justices S.S. Sundar and C. Saravanan will hear writ appeals relating to education, industrial laws, cooperative societies, sales tax, customs and central excise, mines and minerals and writ petitions relating to central administrative tribunals.

Justice R. Subramanian will hear first appeals and second appeals (2007-2010). Justice J. Nisha Banu will hear civil miscellaneous appeals from 2012 and civil revision petitions from 2017. Justice T. Ravindran will hear second appeals from 2015, civil miscellaneous second appeals, company appeals and civil revision petitions up to 2012.

Justice P. Velmurugan will hear criminal appeals and criminal revision petitions from 2012, CBI and Prevention of Corruption Act cases. Justice G. Jayachandran will hear writ petitions relating to service from 2015 and writ petitions relating to Freedom Fighters Pension Scheme.

Justice R.M.T. Teekaa Raman will hear criminal appeals and criminal revision petitions up to 2011. Justice V. Bhavani Subbaroyan will hear writ petitions relating to education, local authorities, mines and minerals, industries, forests, State excise and prohibition from 2015.

Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandira will hear criminal original petitions and criminal appeals relating to crime against women.

Justice G.R. Swaminathan will hear writ petitions relating to labour, urban land ceiling, land acquisition, land laws, land reforms, land tenancy motor vehicles, motor vehicle tax, tax and duties, export and import, customs and central excise from 2015.

Justice T. Krishnavalli will hear second appeals up to 2006. Justice M. Nirmal Kumar will hear bail and anticipatory bail petitions.
