The two new cool designer collaborations you need to watch out for

Right in time for the festive season

Cool-Collabs-featured

It’s almost Diwali, and this time around, there are two new cool collaborations out there to answer all your gifting and wardrobe conundrums. One gives the humble shawl a luxurious update, courtesy Janavi x AJSK, while the other comes as an antidote to heavy festive wear. Think light as air bandhani jackets and wrap kurtas in signature Anushka Khanna style. Read on to know where to find them.

Janavi x AJSK

Sure, you can send over a platter of sweets and candles to near and dear ones for the festive season, but to really make your gift memorable—read: not long forgotten in the confines of a cupboard—opt for a cosy cashmere shawl by Janavi x AJSK. To curate a sensory overload, multiple eras and cultures from around the world collide on the shawls in the form of iconic motifs like exotic birds, Art Deco florals and elephants from the Mughal era. The designers have painted a perfect picture of glory days past using silk thread embroidery in gold and silver on a pastel palette, with a melange of craftwork like zardosi, sequins, crystals and bugle beads. “These shawls are meant to drape a dreamer—someone who appreciates fine design and craftsmanship. They can go from a soiree or a cocktail to a wedding reception or black tie. They can be draped as scarves or as wraps. This collection takes the perceived staidness out of cashmere and makes it out of the box, deeply delicious, glamorous for every woman,” say Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla of their creative method and partnership with Jyotika Jhalani of Janavi.

ANUSHKA KHANNA @ CLOVE

What do you get when Samyukta Nair, the multi-hyphenate behind the coolest store in Colaba, Clove, and designer Anushka Khanna, who is known for her easy-breezy contemporary Indian separates, come together for the festive season? A 12-piece capsule collection to help build your Diwali wardrobe. And just in case you miss it in time for Diwali, the edit continues in store until late December, so you can gear up for all the weddings pencilled in your calendar. Nair, who transforms the one-stop postcode for home, fashion and jewellery to match the flavour of the month, tells us the reason for partnering with Khanna this season. “Anushka’s aesthetic of meeting Indian heritage with a global perspective is what really drew me to her work. Her love for colour and prints creates a perfect balance without being too overpowering and holds true to what we value at Clove.” And for those who need a helping hand with finding jewellery to match, Nair’s curation serves up one statement jewellery piece for each languid Anushka Khanna look. Of her own creative method, Khanna says, “The collection is really about being effortless and easy. These clothes go beyond just festive wear; these are pieces you could wear anywhere in the world, for pretty much any occasion.”
