Illegally mined sand seized
TNN | Nov 5, 2018, 04:01 ISTMangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police seized sand and equipment valued at Rs 58 lakh, at Badaga Bellur, here on Sunday.
According to police, acting on a tip-off provided by beat police, a police team led by Rishikesh Sonawane, ASP, raided Badaga Belur when people were carrying out sand mining illegally from the Phalguni river. Police have seized two iron boats, an earthmoving machine, nine trucks and sand. However, no arrests were made, as the accused managed to flee from the spot.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural police station.
