NEW DELHI: She was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief guest of the Deepotsav event, which is being organised by the government of Uttar Pradesh and the ground-breaking ceremony of the Queen Suriratna (Heo Hwang-ok) Memorial in Ayodhya on November 6.

Ayodhya and Korea have a deep historical connection through the legendary Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya, who travelled to Korea in 48 CE and married Korean King Suro.

India and Korea share a special strategic partnership. Kim had last visited India along with South Korean President Moon Jae-in as part of his first-ever state visit to the country in July this year. His visit had imparted new strength to India’s evolving partnership.
