TNN | Nov 5, 2018, 04:00 ISTVadodara: If you burst crackers before 8 pm and after 10 pm during Diwali in the city, chances are that police will land up at your doorsteps.
City police commissioner, Anupam Singh Gahlaut issued a notification on Sunday stating rules laid to burst firecrackers during Diwali. Police have also made teams at every police station to monitor those bursting crackers. The move came after Supreme Court’s recent order that restricted time of bursting crackers.
“We have asked several teams to monitor different areas and if someone tries to break the rules, he or she will be arrested,” Gahlaut told TOI. Notification also states that people can’t burst long firecracker looms as they spread both air pollution and generate lot of waste.
Citizens can’t burst crackers within 100 meters of hospitals, schools, colleges and religious places as they are notified under silent zone. Chinese lanterns too have been banned as they can cause fire. The notification will be in force till November 25.
