Man gets life sentence for killing neighbour

Representative ImageKANPUR: Additional district and sessions judge (III), Kanpur Nagar Ajay Kumar Srivastava on Saturday convicted accused Ajay alias Deepak, resident of Gulab Nagar Naubasta for committing murder, and punished him with life imprisonment and also imposed fine of Rs 30,000.
According to additional district government counsel (ADGC) Rajesh Tiwari, on November 2, 2012, Ajay entered into a dispute with his neighbour Sanjay when the latter did not allow him to put katiya (illegal power connection) crossing over his roof. On the intervening night of November 2 and 3, 2012 at around 2.30 am, Ajay armed with a knife, climbed the roof and entered into Sanjay's house.
Ajay knocked Sanjay's room, and when the latter opened the door and came out, Ajay grabbed him by his collar, dragged him in the courtyard and inflicted several blows of knife at him. Hearing His shrieks, when his mother Rama Devi and wife Aradhana tried to protect Sanjay, Ajay inflicted a couple of blows at Rama Devi too. Sanjay died on way to hospital.
The ADGC said since Rama Devi had also suffered injuries, the prosecution also summoned the doctor who had treated her as witness. Rama Devi and wife Aaradhana appeared in the trial as material witnesses on his evidence, the court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
