JHANSI: The Orai boy, who was rounded up by ATS for allegedly threatening to blow up Miami airport in the US, is said to be an online game addict who spent most of his time on mobile phone.
A brilliant student, the boy scored 96% in High School last year but dropped out of school and is pursuing further studies through correspondence.
The boy’s family lives in Rajendra Nagar area of Orai. His father is a farmer and owns 150 ‘beeghas’ of land in Chamrai village where he also runs an NGO.
The boy has one sister who studies in Class VIII, while he himself is pursuing class XI studies through correspondence despite scoring brilliantly in High School as his mind drifted away from studies and he is not interested in going to school.
When local reporters contacted the boy’s father, he was reluctant to divulge anything about his son. He said that the case is under investigation and the agencies involved have asked him not to issue any statement.
The boy took Rs 70,000 from his father and invested it in the crypto currency and was promised heavy profits. However, he said that his son used to play some online games in which he had earned a few dollars, a fact which came to his (father) knowledge during interrogation of the boy.
During one such game, the boy had an altercation with someone and he took this step (of issuing a threat). “My son did all this unknowingly with an innocent mind and not with any malafide intention. We have given full cooperation to the investigating agencies as we have nothing to hide, nor we intended to do so,” he said.
As per the boy’s father, the investigating agencies have given him his son’s custody after warning though investigations are still on.
