South Africa eased past hosts Australia in the first ODI by six wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three match series on Sunday. Chasing a paltry 153 to win South Africa romped to victory with more than 20 overs to spare. Openers Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks put on a 94 run stand to lay the foundation of the chase. Earlier Australia were bowled out for 152 in just 38 overs as the batsman had no answers to Proteas’ pace battery. Dale Steyn was the man of the match with figures of 2/18.
