MUMBAI: Atharv Agrawal from Hiranandani Foundation, made a clean sweep in the boys under-19 with six gold medals out of six at stake, while Mahima Bhatkhande from Sydenham College with four golds in the girls under-19, emerged as the outstanding performers on the concluding day of the GMAAA inter-school/junior colleges swimming championships, held at Borivali’s Mandpeshwar Civic Federation Sports Complex swimming pool, here on Sunday.
However, there were no fire words in terms of setting new marks as none of the swimmers could better the old marks in any of the events. The meet witnessed just a solitary record (on the firsts day) set by Vedant Madhavan, from American School of Bombay, who is credited with a new record in the 100m freestyle in the boys U-13 category. Vedant, ended with five golds, and one silver to aggregate 40 points. Even in the girls U-19 category, though Sydenham College’s Mahima Bhatkhande won four golds and U-17, Muskan Patel from Dhirubhai Ambani, ended with four gold medals and two silver medals, they were nowhere near the old records.
